When Ruth and Idgie, intentionally named after the characters in “Fried Green Tomatoes”, were found at the end of a driveway in Osteen, Florida, it was apparent that their bond was a special. Ruth, the paralyzed cat that gets around very well, is heavily protected by her dachshund companion and best friend. According to the Orlando Sentinel, “Seminole County Animal Services found Idgie — a pudgy 2-year-old Dachshund — standing guard over a 7-month-old paraplegic cat.” It’s one of the most heartwarming friendships I’ve ever seen. Who would abandoned these two loving animals?!
