Joanne Milne has suffered from a rare condition called Usher Syndrome since birth. It has affected her ability to hear, and for the first time in her life, she’s about to hear herself speak. The way she is overcome with joy is contagious, and you cannot help but feel the relief, the anxiety and the overwhelming feeling of gratitude this video captures. ‘I can’t stop crying and I can already foresee how it’s going to be life-changing,’ she told The Journal. She has now made it her life’s mission to mentor others who are living with Usher Syndrome.
